Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) directs this revealing and moving documentary, looking at the state of public education in the USA. Charting the course of five children as they attempt to transfer from failing state schools to better mostly charter) schools, Waiting For Superman tries to unravel the issues at local, school, district, state and federal levels, which are holding schools back from delivering excellent education. Given the way the US seems to score so poorly on global education rankings, despite massive government spending, there is a lot here to digest and Waiting For Superman presents the issues in a humane and well paced way.
