Red 2

Red 2
No doubt plenty of fun for all involved, there is little to recommend in this sequel to Robert Schwentke’s 2010 effort. Following the lead of The Expendables, Red takes the comedy route of putting reitred action heroes back on the front lines, but even hardened thesps like John Malkovich and Helen Mirren can’t hide the fact this is nothing but a working vacation. Bruce Willis and Mary-Louise Parker return as the vaguely younger central protagonists, and this sequel sees Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta Jones join in the antics, along with Korean superstud Lee Byung-hyun as a mericiless hit man. But while it nips a long at a brisk pace and is more violent than expected, it’s all forgotten the moment the house lights come up.
